Finse station is located on the biggest Northern European mountain-plateau and between two of Norway's National Parks. Finse evolved as a society about the construction-work, and later on the maintenance work, at Bergensbanen in the early 19th century. Due to the untouched natural environment, Finse is a very popular winter-destination. It is however in the summer that the highest number of tourists are visiting Fise. This is because of the very popular biking-route called Rallarvegen (translated to The Old Navvy Road). The biking route has been awarded "Norway's most beautiful biking route". Between 22-25000 people bike the route every year. The glacier is also ever-increasing in the number of visitors.
